Imac Install Ubuntu
Follow these steps to install Linux on a Mac using Parallels Desktop. Download a Linux distribution file and save it to your Downloads folder. The file will have an '.iso' extension. I'm relatively new to the world of apple, but I recently took the plunge and get a Macbook Pro 2017 and more recently because of the aeshetics and the way they worked a bought a old Mac Pro 1.1 off ebay as I needed a desktop system to complement my setup.
I absolutely love the Classic Mac Pro. I've bought it cheap and upgraded it to 2.1 and put a host of upgrades into it including, 32GB RAM, 2x X5365 Xeon Processors and a 48GB Sandisk SSD with El Capitan installed.
It works amazing..
My next step is wanting to installing / dual boot the Mac Pro into Ubuntu if this is possible. I went to :

to see download Ubuntu 18.04 desktop-amd64 ISO an dburned it to the disc. I manage to install the OS onto a seperate SSD, but when the program installs and asks to restart it doesn't boot up and my system just kind of turns on an off constantly.
I have to shut it down and remove the Ubuntu SSD for my El cap SSD to work.
I dont know what to do next, I know this is vague...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i think it's vintage. haha. but i want to fix it. first, i think the hard drive is broken (pretty much corrupted) but i tried to install a xubuntu os on it because i don't have any other disc. but i think xubuntu is not compatible because i can't seem to get pass through the partitioning part.could some one please help.

The page is hard to find but Ubuntu has versions specially for MACs. I have included the link, the second one down is listed as
Mac (PowerPC) and IBM-PPC (POWER5) desktop CD
For Apple Macintosh G3, G4, and G5 computers, including iBooks and PowerBooks as well as IBM OpenPower machines.
There are others listed just for MACs. I honestly have no personal experience with these so I don't know if they will work, I was just able to dig into Ubuntu's website deep enough to find the link for you. Hope it helps
Note: As I don't know your location I gave you the United States mirrors in the above link I also included 12.04 as it is the newest, let me know it you want another..
